Rather you plan to have a traditional wedding or a small destination wedding, one thing is for sure… It’s YOUR wedding! So why not add some personal and unique touches to your day? Below I have listed a few ideas (and photos from my own wedding) to get your creative juices flowing!
1. Add a Pop of Color
My wedding colors were turquoise blue, silver and crystal (like my name) 🙂 I chose turquoise blue because it is my absolute favorite color. I chose to add a few pops of that blue throughout my wedding design. I made my wedding jewelry blue as well!
2. Add Your Own Style
I must give credit to my husband for this idea. He LOVES Adidas Sneakers and is very loyal to the brand. Which is why I wasn’t shocked when he suggested that he and his groomsmen wear white Adidas shoes with turquoise blue shoestrings! It was the perfect little flare we needed. I’ve seen other couples do Chuck Taylors or Timberland Boots.
3. Let your Bridal party be themselves.
My 3 bridesmaids were not into heavy makeup (I don’t think they have a makeup addiction like myself.Lol). That was fine by me. Besides, I knew we were going to be on a hot beach on one of the hottest days of the year! My only makeup requirement was that they chose BB Cream or a light foundation and a nice lipstick. They looked absolutely amazing!
I also had my bridal party choose their own dresses and dress color. The only requirement was that it was long and some shade of blue. This decision not only added a bit of personal style to my wedding but also allowed them to look and feel beautiful. Remember that a dress on one person may look different on someone else. Why not let them choose their own? Another plus… they can wear it again! Who wants to be stuck with a $200-$300 dress they didn’t like and/or will never wear again?
4. Write Your Own Vows
My husband was shocked when I said, “let’s write our own vows… no pressure though.” But it turned out great! We were able to customize our wedding, our own way.
5. Wedding Makeup
I chose to go with light and natural makeup since the main color of my wedding was blue and silver. However, you can choose to add a pop of color to your makeup as well! A professional makeup artist will be able to go over several makeup options during your trial.
